About What area should I move to in Stockton

What area should I move to in Stockton?
I'm trying to find out what areas of Stockton would be nice to move to, but I've never been to the area. Does anyone know what areas are nicer, as well as what areas to stay away from? Also, I'll have work by the University of the Pacific, so I'd like to live in the nicer area, but close enough to get to work in Stockton. And I already know it's supposed to be a dangerous area...I'm trying to make the best of it. Thanks! My husband saw the Lincoln area and said it looked like neat, but is that a bad area too? We aren't much into the gated community style...but if it's that bad I guess we can go for it. Someone else said Woodbridge and Lodi...and Livermore. Any other info on the area?

Answer 1 :
Actually the neighborhoods around UOP are probably the safest.
Answer 2 :
The Tuxedo area around UOP is ok. Also, the Country Club area isn't too bad...Yet. Most all of Stockton has it's potential for crime or problems. They are letting go many more police officers this year because of budget problems, so just be careful. Research the areas first. Drive through potential neighborhoods and ask the people around their homes. Most folks with any sense will be honest. Go into the Chamber of Commerce, ask them. Or the Police Department and ask them.
Answer 3 :
Try Lodi.
Answer 4 :
Anywhere outside the city limits.
Answer 5 :
Livermore is a long ways from Stockton. The neighbors west of I-5 tend to be the nicer neighborhoods. Some of them are gated, but most are not. Brookside, Lincoln Village Wes are 2 nice areas. Lodi would be a nice town north of Stockton....a 20 minute commute or so. Good luck with the new job and happy house hunting
