Rancho cordova, Folsom, are all nice areas of Sacramento to look at. They are far away from the Air Force bases that you don't get much fly by action and they are pretty well developed areas with decent property value.

maybe too far away, but dixon/vacaville area is good. housing is just as nice, but cheaper. you can still live the small town life with access to the city in minutes. Even has cows and nut tree groves. you'll already be midway between sac and the napa valley. schools are better. stock up on hair grease or other 'ethnic' products until you find your way around. not readily accessible everywhere

Go quickly, and talk to the Fire Chief at the station, they always need volunteers!

Stockton does have a volunteer fire department. Here is the link: http://www.stocktongov.com/fire/pages/auxiliary.cfm Their website says that they're not taking any new recruits at this time. All the requirements, application process and contact information is listed though, so you can be ready when they start taking volunteers again

I grew up in that area and now live in Texas. My Mother just recently moved from Texas this last Summer back there and she hates it. Big adjustment to living. Everything costs more. You may make more money, but things cost more so it really evens out. Have you ever lived in California? Stockton is a larger farming area and a very large spanish community. I would really consider taking a trip/vacation there first. What ever you decide, Good Luck to you.

I live in Stockton. It has 289,927 people. Very diverse population only 43 percent white. We have been one of the worst affected cities from the housing market crash. For the little kid, there are great primary and secondary schools. Trust me , I've been to them. Other good attractions are the Bob Hope Theatre, Regal City Centre Cinemas, Sheraton hotel and the Banner Island ballpark, oh one more thing...... everyone supports Stockton Lightning (football team). We also have some weird festivals like the Stockton Asparagus festival. The standard of livings really good and good place to bring up a kid. Hope This Helps!

Where is a safe place to live near Stockton, California?
We are being transferred to Stockton. My husband will be working on the south side of Stockton. Are there any nice rentals, apartments, etc. nearby in a safe area?

The safest place near Stockton would probably be the Bay Area. Just kidding, but I hear the nicest part of town is the north western section on the west side of I-5.

I don't know much about that area. But I am from the bay area. I would look around in the surrounding suburb cities there. I hear they are really nice to lots of sunshine.

Ripon and Manteca aren't too bad. Little towns...fairly safe. We used to live in Turlock, which is about 40 miles south of Stockton. It has gotten really expensive in the Central Valley, so expect to pay quite a bit for rentals of any kind. Of course that depends on where you are moving from. Hope you will like it there, summers get very hot there, sometimes to about 108° F, so make sure you move into something that has A/C. Good luck

I live in Stockton Ca and worked for Superior Services at a military base. I was laid off because they say I live in a HUD zone. Is that legal? It is sad that you can get fire for living in a HUD zone. Never heard about this before. How can I live in a rich neighborhood when they don't even pay me enough.

This I think is Illegal, first off what is a HUD zone ?, has nothing to do with a certain part or residential area of town. HUD is not defined as a zone but a home that has been taken over by the Housing & Urban Development. IMHO, its SSI's way off playing favorites. I sure hope someone finds the legalities to set SSI straight !. I did hear from a friend that went in for an interview where they asked for her address (not SSI), I feel this is a Strong case of discrimination. PS may want to contact Owen if you can

I would guess that California lender (s) does require the 21 y.o. status + + + + = credit worthiness (you say I pay CASH for the franchise from my inheritance) + = prove to B & R that you can run a business successfully (say: at age 8, you sold 50,000 cookies at a Church bakes sale; at the age of 12, you create and made $40,000 from placing ads. for local business; at the age of etc.) + = prove to B & R that you know well of their products (YES: say I ATE them all, and I love every single flavor) + how to manage, treat, hire, discipline workers etc. + = there is an OLD in poor health owner of B &R in Stockton, who love you so much would go to B & R and fight for you and he will help you the first few years etc. Then there is a chance. The youngest I've know of is a man of his very early 30; in Portland, OR.; his Dad in the fast food business; so he had many "helps".

*This is no joke and actually took place [I do think its hilarious however]* I live in Spokane, WA and a buddy of mine was doing some yardwork work for John Stockton this past weekend he didn't say anything to John besides asking John who he wanted to win in the NBA finals this year, Johns response was "Who's in it?" Personally I think this is a huge slap in the face to the NBA, what are your thoughts? True, but it has been a pretty damn good playoffs so far so that alone I think is reason enough to at least know whos playing.

Hahahaha! I think that's great and it confirms what i've known all along. I knew that John Stockton didn't watch NBA Games when he played or after he retired. Don't ask me how i knew but i did. He used to hardley ever watch any games when he was a player and he still doesn't. I find it kinda funny & interesting as to why he's that way. Its kinda odd? But i love Stockton. It's not a slap in the face to the NBA, it's just John's way
